FAQs
How do I book in for a tattoo appointment?
When bookings are open, the ‘Tattoo Appointments’ link will become live. Use this link to fill out the form and we will get back to you on your tattoo appointment. Please note that fine line realism projects are prioritised.
Formal booking confirmation is sent once a deposit has been paid which includes time of your appointment, studio address and deposit confirmation.
Where is the studio and how’s best to get there?
ILY Tattoo is a private studio - the address is provided once the booking has been made. Brighton station is the closest train station to the studio and the easiest parking is Brighton Station car park or London Road car park.
What do I need to know before coming in for my appointment?
Please ensure you have allowed enough time for travel, that you have eaten breakfast/lunch and that you’re wearing comfortable clothing. Please bring any drinks, snacks or food with you (we have a fridge!). Feel free to bring headphones, a book, iPad etc.
What’s the best way to take care of my new tattoo?
If you have been given TattooMed, remove by pulling one of the top corners of the TattooMed protection film up and away from the tattoo. Rinse with plain warm water (it’s easier to just have a shower if it’s not on your arm!) and pat dry with kitchen towel or allow to air dry (towels carry bacteria).
If you have been given cling film, take the cling film off after 2 hours rinse with plain warm water (it’s easier to just have a shower if it’s not on your arm!) and pat dry with kitchen towel or allow to air dry.
keep your tattoo out of the sun
no baths, saunas, swimming or steam rooms for two weeks
wear loose clothing that doesn’t create friction on your tattoo
do not pick!
Do I need any particular products for aftercare?
We recommend Palmer’s cocoa butter or any specific tattoo aftercare creams (e.g. Hustle Butter or Stories & Ink etc). If you’d like to purchase a specific cleanser, Sanex body wash or Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser is recommended to use directly on the tattoo, otherwise do not use any other cleansers directly on the tattoo - allowing general body washes to run over the tattoo during showering is fine.
What can I expect the healing process to. look like?
Your tattoo will become dry and feel tight within the first few days as the skin starts to heal. After around 3-4 days your tattoo will become crispy and flakey (this is normal!) which is when moisturising 2-3 per day with a small amount of cream is important. A thin layer of cream over the tattoo is plenty. Do not over moisturise!! Keep doing this until the tattoo has completely flaked and a new layer of skin has formed over the tattoo (around 10 - 14 days).
